Scouly vs SourceScrub: Conference-List Sourcing vs Public-Records Signals

Last updated: August 2026

Both tools promise a company nobody has listed yet, from different raw material. SourceScrub starts with lists humans publish: conference rosters, Inc. 5000 rankings, award tables, trade buyers guides. Scouly starts with government filings. Different companies come out the far end. And most comparison pages have missed this: SourceScrub is being absorbed into Grata.

Disclosure: we build Scouly. Read accordingly.

SourceScrub belongs to Datasite now

On 8 August 2025, Datasite announced it was buying SourceScrub from Francisco Partners and merging it into Grata, which Datasite had acquired earlier that year. The release puts Grata at over 19 million private companies and SourceScrub at 220,000+ sources covering 16 million. Grata co-founder Nevin Raj called SourceScrub's contribution "a powerful layer of human-enriched data, curated lists, deep integrations, and a signal-rich sourcing workflow." The release names no price.

You can watch the merge in the URLs. Checked 27 August 2026, sourcescrub.com still serves its homepage and pricing page, but its product pages redirect out: /product/data to grata.com/features/deal-data, /use-cases/conference-planning to grata.com/features/conferences-and-events, and the demo request to grata.com/get-started?source=sourcescrub. Their "Sourcescrub vs Grata" page 404s. Shopping SourceScrub in 2026 largely means shopping Grata with SourceScrub's lists inside, so read Scouly vs Grata too.

What SourceScrub is

Its method is sources-first: "We clean, categorize, and connect 290,000 Sources to 17M company listings to develop deep profiles and signal data, giving you context, quality, and intent." A source means a published list. Its sitemap still carries conference pages for BIO International, Money20/20 and HIMSS, and a "Best of Bootstrapped" series built off the Inc. 5000. Checked 27 August 2026, every one of those URLs returns a 404. The public list library is gone.

It cites 700 customers and 35 of the top 40 firms, and names four buyers: private equity, investment banking, corporate development, consulting. Its CRM integrations link now lands on Grata's integrations page, which lists Salesforce, HubSpot, DealCloud, Affinity, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Dynamo Software. Nobody buying one auto repair shop needs a DealCloud sync.

SourceScrub pricing

SourceScrub publishes no dollar figures. Its pricing page shows three tiers, a CRM integration product and a data delivery product. Every button on it says "Request pricing":

The page offers no free tier, no trial and no self-serve signup. The honest answer to "sourcescrub pricing" is that it gets quoted per firm on a call, and any figure on a forum came from one contract. Scouly's number sits on the site: Explorer free with 10 profile unlocks, Operator $35 a month, unlimited.

Where SourceScrub is clearly stronger

Sit with this before $35 decides anything.

If your firm runs business development against a quota, buy the enterprise tool.

The case for the $35 tool

The real split is which companies each method can see at all.

A list-first pipeline sees businesses that appear on lists. Inc. 5000 entrants, conference exhibitors, award winners, association members. All have a marketing function and a growth story worth publishing. Picture the opposite. A plumbing company in Toledo, incorporated in 1984, 14 trucks, owner turning 63. It has never exhibited at anything and it is not going to enter the Inc. 5000. What it leaves behind is a paper trail: a registry filing, a loan on the building, a PPP record.

That business is the point of Scouly: 173,769 of them, 54,572 in manufacturing and 4,011 in funeral homes, each scored 0 to 100 on loan maturity, registry longevity and local fragmentation. The breakdown links back to the filings, so you can check the arithmetic. Scouly also refuses things on purpose. It never estimates revenue or EBITDA, because real private financials are not public. It never contacts owners, and nothing is listed for sale.

Which one should you use

Sourcing across sectors for a fund or a bank, with a CRM behind you? SourceScrub, though you will sign a Grata contract. Correct tool for that job.

Buying one business with your own money? Underwriting a demo-gated contract on a platform mid-merge is a strange use of a search budget. We mapped the field in Grata alternatives for searchers and SMB buyers and the category in deal sourcing software for self-funded searchers. Earlier than that, how Scouly fits a self-funded search.

Frequently asked questions

How much does SourceScrub cost? SourceScrub publishes no prices. Its pricing page lists Essentials, Plus and Professional alongside a CRM integration product and a data delivery product, and every button on it says "Request pricing". Cost depends on seats, modules and negotiation, so two firms pay different amounts for the same tier. Since Datasite's acquisition, quotes run through Grata.

Did SourceScrub get acquired? Yes. Datasite announced on 8 August 2025 that it was buying SourceScrub from Francisco Partners and merging it into Grata, which Datasite had bought earlier that year. Terms were undisclosed. As of August 2026 the sourcescrub.com product, integration and demo-request pages all redirect to grata.com.

Is there a free alternative to SourceScrub? Scouly's Explorer tier is free and includes 10 full profile unlocks across 173,769 companies in seven verticals. The wholly free route is the records themselves: SBA 7(a) and 504 loan files, PPP data, DOL Form 5500 filings and state registries are public. The cost is your entity-matching time.

Does Scouly include contact data like SourceScrub? No. SourceScrub's plan table includes executive contacts and contact exports. Scouly gives you no emails and no phone numbers, and it never contacts owners for you. Owner names and addresses usually sit in the state registry filings every Scouly profile links to. You do that last step.

Can Scouly replace SourceScrub for a search fund? Only if the thesis fits. A searcher targeting HVAC and plumbing, dental, manufacturing, landscaping, auto repair, funeral homes or veterinary practices gets a better list from public filings, because those owners never appear on conference rosters. A software thesis needs SourceScrub's coverage, and Scouly has nothing for it.
